The Sarwari Qaderi Order
stresses strict adherence to the Sharia. The spiritual method of the Order
is based in addition to the five obligatory prayers, on invocation and remembrance
of Allah (Zikr), daily recitation of Durood Benediction on the Prophet (peace
be upon him), reflection (Fekr), meditation and visualisation of the Supreme
Name Allah (Moraqaba and Tasawwur), litany (Wird) and self-examination (Muhasaba).
In common with all Sufi Orders, the Sarwari Qaderi Order stems from an initiatic
chain, going back to the beginning of Islam, with the Prophet (peace be upon
him) being considered the first Sufi master. The word Sarwari refers to the
Prophet (peace be upon him) and the word Qaderi is derived from the name of
Sheikh Abdul Qader of Gilan (1077-1166 AD), who founded the order at the end
of the 11th century.
Sheikh Muhyiddeen Abdul Qadir Gilani (Allah bless his soul) was one of the most revered mystic scholars and saints of Islam. He was the luminary of his time in the Islamic spiritual sciences and in the disciplines of the Divine Law. His contribution and renown in the sciences of Sufism and Sharia was so immence that he became known as the spiritual pole of his time, al-Gauth al Azam. His miracle of miracles was filling the heart of the despaired and broken hearted with faith, hope and enthusiasm. He reopened the door for the renewal of one's covenant with Allah, and muslims came forward in crowds to repent. He infused a breath of new life through his powers of speech and the spiritual power of his heart which was gifted with divine grace and illumination. He was successful in tapping the sources of moral and spiritual strength for a religious renaissance. Each era has produced luminaries who testified to the Prophetic message and gave explanations and guidance to thirsty seekers of knowledge. Among such luminaries came Sheikh Abdul Qadir Gilani, whose attainments triumph above all as they collectively attest to his exalted station and spiritual role.
